Our Team

Quentin McCurdy

Owner/ Journeyman Licensed Contractor

Quentin McCurdy was born in 1961 in a small city outside Chicago, Illinois, the last of 5 boys to James Reno & Gloria Jean McCurdy. He knew from a young age he liked doing things with his hands and even taught himself how to play the guitar. He moved to California in his adolescence and met his wife Carri McCurdy at his 17th birthday party. After that day, they were never apart again. They got married in 1981 and had their first of 4 children in 1983. By 1990 they had 4 children and had moved back to Carri’s hometown in the California Bay Area.

Quentin worked for a few Contractors over the course of his life and would often bring Alex along to teach him things as he noticed his son had the same affinity for Construction that he did. Together they would build and fix things throughout the home Quentin and Carri raised their kids in. When his second child, and only son, graduated from High School in 2003 it looked like the perfect time to start this construction contracting business.

Since that day, Quentin has continued to build the reputation that Quality Does Matter, and 20 years later, QDM is still in operation almost solely through word-of-mouth.

Carri McCurdy

Owner/Administrator

Carri McCurdy was born in 1961 in Walnut Creek, California, Carri Lynn Reed, to Ronald D. Reed and Gladys Lewis the oldest of two girls. Later, another sister and two brothers came into the family when her father remarried.

At North Tahoe High School in 1978 she would get invited to Quentin’s birthday party and this would be the day their lives changed forever. They would fall in love instantly, get married in 1981, and have 4 children, Nicole McCurdy (now Rodriguez), Alexander McCurdy, Angela McCurdy (now Schrier), and Rochelle McCurdy (now Mabile).

Carri became one of the first female managers and eventually General Manager of Coco’s Bakery Restaurant. After fifteen years of service, she retired to stay home with her kids through high school. After Niki went to college and Alex graduated, they started QDM Construction to live out their dream of working for themselves. With Quentin now living his dream, it left time for Carri to discover hers. Eight years ago, when invited to a Mary Kay meeting by her oldest daughter, something in her was sparked and to this day she remains one of the top salespeople in her area receiving many awards within the company.

20 years after starting their business, and 42 years of marriage later, they have 4 adult children, and 13 grandchildren all while building, from the ground up, the family business that is now QDM Construction.

Alex McCurdy

Journeyman Contractor/ General Manager

Alex McCurdy was born in 1985 in Burbank, California, Alexander James McCurdy to Carri and Quentin McCurdy, the second of their four children, and their only son. He grew up working on many job sites with Quentin and knew early on that he loved building things. He deconstructed his toys, created new ones, took every “shop” class he could all through school, and built many things for his family that they still have in their homes.

After high school Alex went to work for his parents, helping to create QDM Construction. The father-son duo worked tirelessly to build the reputation that Quality Does Matter!! In 2007 his daughter, Alena McCurdy, began the now 13-grandchild legacy that would become Quentin and Carri’s.

Alex decided to forgo college to help his father build QDM and stay close to home. That decision would eventually introduce him to his wife, Sarah Kreszeska, and her two children Ashlyn and Alexander in 2015. The two fell head over heels instantly, moved in together, and blend their families in less than a year.

Today the couple is married, have another son named Jackson McCurdy, and own their own home in Antioch just a few blocks away from Quentin and Carri, and less than a mile from his older sister, Nicole.

Gene Anderson

Installer

Gene Anderson is a long-time friend of the McCurdy family. Coming to work for Quentin in 2020, he has become someone to rely on and is an integral part of the team. He also lives in Antioch, less than a mile from Quentin, and has 3 kids of his own that the McCurdys think of as part of the family.

Gene has worked in the home improvement industry most of his adult life, with special skills in flooring of all kinds, and has picked up many more finishing skills in the years he has worked with Quentin and Alex.
